When might I need an emergency plumber?
Generally speaking, if there is a risk of flooding, and consequent damage to your property, it is advisable to call out an emergency plumber. Flooding can be caused by a burst pipe which may be the result of age-related damage or if the pipe has frozen and cracked. Flood water can cause significant damage to both the structure of your property and internal decor and therefore should be addressed as soon as possible.
Finding a problem with your plumbing
As soon as you have found a serious problem with your plumbing, call us out and we will endeavour to be at your property as soon as possible. However, before we arrive, there are steps you can take which may help to reduce any damage which the problem might be causing. If it’s an issue with the drains, toilet or taps in your bathroom or kitchen, or localised flooding has occurred in or around your property, we strongly advise you to turn off your water at the stop tap. This will cut off the water supply to your property and prevent water escaping and damaging floors or furnishings. Most stop taps can be located under the sink in the kitchen, although occasionally, especially in older properties, they can be found in an airing cupboard, under the stairs or in a cellar.
Sewage-related problems are usually emergencies as sewage back up creates a health hazard. If the toilets in your home or business premises are unusable, you would be advised to call out a plumber. Having no access to running water is also a safety concern especially if this means you have no functioning toilet or washing and cleaning facilities.
So, whether it’s a blocked drain or toilet, a burst pipe causing localised flooding, a faulty boiler leaving you without heating or hot water, National Home Group can have an experienced engineer at your premises promptly, to deal with the problem.
